This seminar is an overview of the ethical issues non-elder law attorneys can be presented with when dealing with aging and disabled clients. It will review the relevant rules of professional conduct, including client under disability, competence and diligence. It will address an overview of government benefits, including Veterans Aid & Attendance and Medicaid, long-term care protection for small business owners, and elder law issues the matrimonial attorney must be aware of. In addition, the seminar details the dos and don'ts when it comes to long-term care planning and the dangers of an improperly drafted power of attorney.
